This brewed drink makes you stronger from within & helps in fighting any kind of flu and infections. It acts as a precautionary measure, as it kills the mucus instantly when it enters your throat via nasal passage or mouth. Thus preventing any flu or virus from entering your lungs. 

To be honest, it tastes not too different from regular black tea. There is no hard and fast rule that says you need to have an ailment to consume kashayam. It helps you manage the symptoms of various ailments like fever, cough&cold, asthma, flu, etc, It also aids digestion, which directly impacts our immunity, as our first line of defense is in the gut. 

Best time to consume: 1st thing in the morning empty stomach & around 6 pm/an hour before dinner. (Twice a day)

Here’s what goes into it :   

½ cup coriander seeds
¼ cup cumin seeds
2 tsp pepper
2 tsp carom/ajwain 
1 tsp fennel / saunf 5-6 pods cardamom
8-9 clove
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp ginger powder
3-4 cinnamon sticks

Over medium-high heat, toast all the ingredients (except ginger & turmeric powder) until fragrant and the color turns dark.
After the spices cool down, add ginger & turmeric powder. Blend everything into a coarse powder & store it in a container.

Preparation: Take 1 glass of water and add 1/2 spoon powder. Boil it on medium flame until the water is reduced to half. Serve it lukewarm, add a Lil lime for taste, and jaggery powder or honey if you like it sweet.
